Hi Dean,

We are at Betsy's library looking at your web page on her computer. Very interesting! Emily writes that you are still doing well in your recovery . We expect that you are now looking at the snow we have sent you from Ohio.
We have had about 18 inches in Columbus from Friday to Monday. That's the record in historic times, surpassing the "Snow Bowl" in 1950 when Ohio State was playing Michigan. Chuck has been proving that he can still shovel snow (his old snow thrower broke). Our neighbors are stuck at their second home
in W.Va., had 3 feet there!

Hope that your recovery continues to go smoothly.

Love,

Chuck, Gretchen and Betsy

Hi Dad;

I thought I would check in your progress the virtual way and it sounds
like you got in trouble from the Doctor. Why am I not surprised-always
trying to push the envelope.

Anyway, I am glad you are moving around more. Look forward to
seeing you this weekend.

I am over my cold, but still very low energy.

Love, Stacy

Yes, Stacy, the medical people are conspiring to allow the inside of the leg to heal before I beat it up again. But substantial improvement that I can see almost every day. Today's event was to go to the dentist for a crown replacement. I know it does not sound like fun but when you haven't been able to do much, even a visit to the dentist is a diversion.

See you this weekend. We'll be able to do a little mobility: tennis, no but ping-pong if you hit the ball directly to me.....love, dad

Hi Dean,

Get well soon & Happy New Year!

xoxox Abby

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abby...thanks for your good wishes and the picture. We wish you were
able to spend more time with us. I have four granddaughters who would
like to play with you. I am including a picture of Hannah & Glennie
serving tea from a new tea set. You like to do that too....love you,
mean it, dean

Dear Dean,

Not that I'm advocating the attached cartoon segment, but it so easily came to mind. So I thought I'd share it with you. There are so many 'afters' one can think of. You still have a little while yet before the BIG PUSH of bending and lifting.

You'll do fine. You have the fortitude to endure whatever it takes to get back on your feet. After all, though you may not be skiing, you have to be ready to jump in the Boesch and take off as soon as
it's in the water. Let that be your incentive as being a rider was mine.
Love you,

Elaine xoxo

Elaine....On the muscular/skeletal front, as others, you are my mentor. You know much more about
it than I do. So we'll compare PT notes, Karen, my trainer, will pull my knee through motion these
new parts have never experienced. Ouch, but necessary. I'll be running around in no time. Thanks
for holding everything together meanwhile...love, dean

Hey Dean,

Get well soon & Merry Christmas!

John & Abby

John and Abby....Donna and I thought about you a lot this Christmas. Abby is just the right age to sparkle with the season and Aunt Donna wished she could be there to join you for this special family holiday. Rather Swiss ice, a clumsy me and a Christmas Day NEaster' conspired to delay it. But
she'll be there soon. She'll not come down the chimney like Santa Claus but she sent her presents ahead of time...good thinking as it turned out...love you, mean it, dean

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Dean,

We were so sorry to hear about your accident. For future reference, it is almost
impossible to slip on sand. I hope this finds you in wonderful holiday spirit (under
the circumstances). Happy holidays to you and yours!

Love you mean it. Dave, Cindy, Molly, and Rachel

P.S. You might want to think about rehab in the warm waters of the gulf coast
of Florida.

HI, family Sammons (FL branch): What a motivation for PT! Walking in the sand in March. Hope we
can do it. At the moment my long hike is to the kitchen and back, on one level, behind a walker or
with a single crutch. And I fear that's it until I start retraining. Meanwhile I look at the steps longingly thinking of when I'd think nothing about tackling them. Great to have a conversation with you on Christmas Eve when you called us...we should have Beamed for video inclusion...
love you, mean it...dean
