I take pride in the work that Carlos does as editor, ably following the founding editor, the late Gottfried Mayer. And I’ll accept a bit of applause for organizing this magazine dedicated decades ago to promoting practical applications of complexity to the solution of everyday problems. I was reacting to my experiences with the leading complexity institution which seemed devoted to studying core research to produce journal articles rather than dealing with practical issues…at danger of becoming like Rand Corp., a “job shop.”
Now under the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Complex Systems Society sponsorship and Carlos’ energetic handling, its non-revenue subscription base is enthusiastic and growing supplanting any financing needs from me.
